Discrimination Awareness Week starts March 4

Hello, dear Pico Perfect readers.

Discrimination is everywhere. Yes, even in Pico. Everyday people are judged based on the clothes they wear, the texture of their hair, the color of their skin, the place they were born ... the list goes on.

Yes, we are different. But underneath it all we are the same as members of the human race.

I would like to address the issue as it relates to us in our Pico lives. Starting this week on Monday I will be posting on Pico Perfect about discrimination I have witnessed in Pico. This will mark the beginning of Discrimination Awareness Week from March 4 to 8.

I would like to take a stand for equality and fairness, judging people on the content of their character and not their appearance, as civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged us all to do almost 50 years ago. The message is still true today!

Each day I will be posting a different story that will uncover the different kinds of discrimination that many of us encounter at one time or another during our Pico lives.

Let's work together in putting a stop to discrimination and making Pico an enjoyable place for all of us. Let's practice to be our best without having the fear of getting judge and disrespected for being ourselves. Let's make a commitment to take a stand against people who put others down without even knowing them.
